Things to do in Gozo

Gozo, Malta’s smaller and quainter sister Island, is truly a stunning destination, and can provide visitors with a chance to experience a more rural life, as well as traditional activities, apart from being able to visit some of the oldest free-standing temples in the world. The island also provides numerous sporting activities as well as having a great clubbing scene.

Gozo has a long and interesting past, which is sure to delight history buffs, with Xagħra playing home to the majestic Megalithic Temples of Ġgantija. These stunning structures are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and get their name from local folklore which traditionally believed say that the stones used for these temples are so big that they could only have been placed there by giants, which in Maltese is ġgant!

For those wishing to indulge in local produce, Gozo is full of fantastic gastronomic options, ranging from Michelin plate rated restaurants to sublime examples of local cuisine. No matter your tastes, your tastebuds will be tantalised by whatever you choose! The variety is perfect for a romantic night out, or a group dinner to unwind after a busy day of activities.

Gozo also offers some fantastic opportunities to club in unique locations and hear some of the best internationally renowned DJs, as well as bands. This, together with the numerous live music which can be found at bars and local hangout spots, means that your days and nights are sure to be brimming with fun.

It would be amiss to mention things to do in Gozo and not touch upon the diving opportunities that one can experience in Gozo. The Maltese Islands are one of the top diving destinations around the world, thanks in part to the excellent visibility in the clear waters, as well as the variety of shore, boat, and wreck dives which one can experience. An added bonus is that anyone over the age of 10 can get their PADI diving license. One of the more dramatic dive sites is In the inland sea, Dwejra, were divers can go out to the open sea via a cleft in the massive cliffs, and then dive through an underwater cave and surface in a small pool!And what about a day trip to the charming islet of Comino? A Natura 2000 site, Comino is a  short 10 minute boat ride away from Mgarr harbour. This uninhabited island boasts of two gems – the Blue Lagoon and the Crystal lagoon! A beautiful beach, Santa Marija bay and  a 17th century watch tower are other attractions on Comino
